Sample the first week of the Prime Cuts 2km Program.

An important note for Week 1.  If this week’s training isn’t relatively easy the likely scenario is that your 2km target is too ambitious or you aren’t sufficiently conditioned to begin this program.  Trust me on this one.  The training gets more onerous from here.  The total volume is 3-4 hours per week, which isn’t a lot when prepping for a 2k, so you best believe the intensity will be high.  Your two options are to either adjust your target or to do Week 1 one to three times in order to reestablish a basic level of fitness.  

This sample of the program is the base sessions for Week 1. The full program will articulates when to place lifting and cross-training, if so inclined. There’s also supportive information on nutrition and recovery.
